Inspired
by Ben Gurion’s dream of transforming the Negev desert, the Nativ
Angli was part of Aliyat Ha’Noar’s Israel high school program
offering which provided a boarding school experience for many new immigrants
from Yemen, Turkey, and North Africa. |
|
Against the backdrop of purple hazed sun sets and the stunning beauty
of the desert landscape, we studied for the Bagrut together, took tiyulim
together, ate choco and lachmaneot together, laughed, cried, made love,
wrote poetry, played mid-night basketball, lived through wars and terrorists
attacks, debated, listened to music, and found our souls and sense of
purpose. The Nativ Angli had a profound impact on all of us whether we
were there for three years or three months. |

| Our principal was Dr. Ervin Birnbaum. He was supported by Hadassah (his wife) and an able group of teachers, mentors, administrators, counselors, and ladies from Yeruham who we all remember fondly. | ||
